QUESTION:
Individual PPO Dental Insurance with No Waiting Period?
Does anyone know any individual dental insurance with a PPO plan and has NO waiting period? I live in the state of California.I've already tried Blue Shield and they have a 6-12 month waiting period for the PPO plan. And I've already try tons of other dental insurance (Metlife, Safeguard, etc) and they all have HMO plans or doesn't provide individual dental insurnace.

ANSWER:
Nobody has an individual PPO Dental Insurance plan without a waiting period. It would be impossible for a company to have -- otherwise you could buy it, have a root canal done, and then cancel it. If any company did that then they wouldn't be in business very long at all...either that or the premiums would run 0/month.Just buy an insurance plan and in time it won't have waiting periods (they'll be satisfied). Claims made during the waiting period would at least give you the network discounts for the procedures much like the discount plans do. Eventually you'll have full coverage. Ameritas dental insurance is the biggest seller on my site.
Hopefully that'll at least save you some time looking for that which does not exist.

QUESTION:
Is there a waiting period when you switch dental insurance?
When I signed up for my dental insurance, they said since I had insurance with another company already (for the previous 4 yrs) that there was no waiting period, so I end up getting dental work done and then they sold their company to someone else who says the exact opposite, but I have the original app that was submitted online with the original dental card, so can they deny my claim? I am submitting my proof to them, but would like some feedback, thanks.
The original dental card was sent in with the applicatiion at the request of the lady who was insurancing me, She needed my card in order to confirm my prior insurance and there would be no waiting period. This info was emailed ,so I have record if it-
ANSWER:
Refer to the package you received from them after applying. This is something that will be, should be and must be, included in summary of benefits. What ever is stated there is what the deal is, it's written contract basically, usually in most cases you have 10 days to look at it, and decide if you want to keep it or not. There are some companies out there that will waive waiting period if you had prior coverage, so yes it's possible. Good luck.

As far as the health insurance, a 00 or less deductible, or less co-pay, must include prescription drug benefit 0 deductible, and yearly female exam.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.-

QUESTION:
What is the most popular/best dental insurance PPO in south florida, St lucie county to be exact?
I'm looking for a good dental insurance plan. One that is not so expensive and preferably with no or <6m waiting period for basic dental such as fillings-
ANSWER:
The all have either a waiting period or a reduced benefit period for both basic and major dental work. You have five options with dental.
1. Go without insurance. If you have good teeth and just want the basics you probably don't need any plan. A yearly cleaning and exam and even an occasional filling will cost you less without insurance.
2. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you. You can find one here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/Dentalschools.html
3. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost - per month. You pay a deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of 0 - 00, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is 9. With insurance you pay 0 after paying 18 months of premium (around 0 or 0). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans.
4. Discount plans - Cost - - per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is 9. With discount plans you pay around 7. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health & dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/west/2006/11/22/74554.htm concerning these plans.
5. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost - per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is 9. With fee for service plans you pay as little as 4.
I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?locationid=20349 specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

QUESTION:
what independant dental insurance company should i get with my circumstances?
im self employed and have not had dental insurance for 10 years. im ready to purchase some becuase i know i need some work done. nothing too extreme but enough that i know it might be expensive. i dont even know where to look or who offers independent insurance that has little to no waiting period with good coverage. anyone have a good indie dental plan? if it helps i am located in ohio.-
ANSWER:
Long story short--it is almost never worth it to purchase dental insurance as an individual. Without getting technical, it works worse than medical insurance, because you are attempting to insure against an expected expense, not something unexpected.
Dental insurance generally only makes sense when an employer purchases it for a group.
And don't be taken in by dental "discount plans" that are really not insurance--most feature unsupportable fees, and there is a strong temptation for participating dentists to "bait and switch" you into other services.Steve Bornfeld, DDS

QUESTION:
what is the best short term-temporary dental insurance?
I recently lost my job so I am now without insurance. A few months ago, I was able to have my teeth cleaned and x-ray, which then I found out I have one cavity. Before I had the chance to go back to the dentist to have it filled, I lost my insurance.I am wondering if anyone know of any good companies that provide short term-temporary dental insurance that I can apply to while I am in the process of finding a new job.
If someone can also give me a list of how much it will all cost, that would be great. (an average of how much it will cost to join/apply for the dental insurance, average of monthly cost, etc).
Also, is it even worth getting dental insurance or should I just pay out of pocket for my dental work. Since I know some insurance have a waiting period before any dental work can be done, but there are no charge for cleaning and x-ray, and no waiting for period. So either way I might have to pay out of pocket for the dental work.

QUESTION:
Dental insurance?
My insurance expired this past March 31st because I turned 19 and so I am no longer on my parents insurance but while I was...I found out from the dentist that I have an impacted wisdom tooth. Well it wasn't bothering me then...but now all the sudden it is and I think it is errupted, because it is infected and is really sore and I can't eat or drink on that side. I really need to see a dentist but can't afford one without insurance. Does anyone know an insurance company(ies) that have affordable dental insurance with NO waiting period and allows pre-existing conditions. From my understanding...they can look at your dental records to see if the problem was from before. Thanks, and I live in NC.P.S. I've done some research myself but it is sometimes hard to decipher which companies are ripoffs and which ones are the real deal!

I have dental coverage but no adult orthodontic coverage. I need braces and am hoping that my husband's employer will add this for us. I am covered under his medical and dental insurance already, we just do not have adult orthodontic coverage. We need it though!
Has anyone ever done this? If so, did you have to pay anything for the additional coverage? Was there a waiting period? Any other info is appreciated.Thanks!-

I lost my job a month ago (after only being there 2 months) and woke up on Monday with a sore throat and swollen lymph node underneath my right jaw. The next day one of my molars was hurting and noticed part of of my gum tissue was torn. I went to a dentist and they told me I have an infection....and my wisdom tooth was coming out! I'm on antibiotics now but I need all four of my wisdom teeth extracted (especially the one that's infected and it's top counterpart) within the next month. If there is a college or university nearby that teaches dentistry, you may want to give them a call. QUESTION:
anyone know where to get good individual dental insurance thats effective immediatly?
I need my wisdom teeth removed but have no insurance, most individual insurance companies have a 6 month waiting period for procedures other than preventitive. I need them out now because one was infected and I got it treated with antibiotics but Im afraid it will come back because it keeps bleeding. Any help will do and I am in florida.-
ANSWER:
Nope. Why would anyone sell you insurance and immediately cover a pre-existing condition? This is like shopping for medical insurance when you are 6 months pregnant.I hate, hate, hate to say this, but since you said, "Any help will do," you might be someone who should look into a dental discount plan. Bear in mind that it is NOT insurance and you may have to go to a dentist that you don't like to take advantage of the discount, but you might be able to pick up a discount plan and get your wisdom teeth out and then dump the plan. I'm sure someone representing one of those plans will come along and pitch their product in response to your question.

QUESTION:
What's the Catch? (Dental insurance buffs) Why go with a PPO over a HMO?
So I've been researching dental insurance in my area. (S. Florida Metro - Ft. Lauderdale/Miami/Palm Beach)I've received a quote from a dental HMO that provides the following;
Individual Premium per month - 11.95$
No Wating Period
No Plan Maximum
No Deductable.
As examples of coverage;
Cleanings are no charge.
Fillings for one surface are 25$ for composite fillings. Standard silver fillings are no charge.
Crowns run between 245$-300$
Endodontics/Root Canals run between 110$ and 345$
Periodontic services run between 110$ and 300$ for surgical services.
Non surgiacal periodontic services run between 38$ and 65$
Dentures and bridges are fairly priced between 300$ and 425$
Extractions run between 30$ and 100$
The only place they really get you is with orthodontics. Now let's look at a PPO.
Individual Coverage is between 30$ and 42$ a month for basically the same services between plans, with large waiting periods, tiny plan maximums, and really not that great of coverage.
(Cont.)
My boyfriend needs a 3 fillings and a root canal and possibly a crown in the future. They cover 50% of the root canal, which would stick us with a 500$ bill. They cover 50% of a crown, which would stick us with another 500$ bill and we’ve reached our plan maximum of 1,000$, which is the largest plan maximum I’ve found.Am I basically paying an obscene amount and tiny maximums with a PPO to go to a larger network of dentists? What’s the difference? Why should I pick a PPO over a HMO?
When it comes to orthodontics, which may also be something we consider in the future, the PPO isn't able to provide a significant advantage over a HMO. The HMO's charge around 1,000$ flat for orthodontic treatment. PPO's either don't cover orthodontics at all or only pay 25%.Can anyone shed any light on the differences and why they exist?
So basically, I'm correct in that all I'm paying for is a larger network of dentists? There's plenty of HMO providers in the area which are accepting patients. There's nearly a dozen within 5 miles of my home.
And by the way, idiots need not reply. Christ you people are stupid.
Could a dentist possibly imput their .02 on this issue? Why do you choose to go with a HMO network? Why do you choose to go with a PPO network?
Up until recently, I've shared the same feeling, that in general, PPO insurance is better than HMO insurance. It seems to me like this applies only with health insurance. I still feel the same way, go with PPO for health. But with Dental insurance, there is an amazing discrepancy. I was SO blown away at the differences.
This is simply an individual dental coverage plan with no bearing on my medical insurance. I have Tricare/Humana through my father and United Healthcare through my office. United Healthcare's dental is the PPO I outlined, and I actually have only a 750$ per calender year with my office's dental plan, and they cover NO major dental work, not even extractions. That's NOTHING.
-
ANSWER:
Great question. I recently was stuck trying to decide between the two. I chose the PPO just cause that's what everyone else has in the office. But the more I kept comparing the two, I couldn't understand why you pay more with a PPO if the HMO gave you more coverage. I guess I feel better about the PPO cause I get a wider range of doctors and I can go outside the network if I wanted to. That seems to be the only advantage.

QUESTION:
Dental insurance or no? Cost of a crown?
I had a horrible experience at my last dentist visit because they seemed to delibrately find things wrong with my teeth like the "free brake inspection" ploy. They found reasons for me to have further dental work done from a filling to a crown. Well, after a year of thinking I'm somewhat worried about my front tooth because there is a hairline crack running through it but when x-rayed, it did not show. I have no pain or sensitivity in that tooth. I no longer have dental insurance and all the plans I've looked at require a waiting period of about 12 months until I am partially covered for a crown. I don't want to wait that long because I'm afraid this crack can spread to my root at anytime. I don't know what to do? Are there any alternative dental plans where there are no waiting periods? Or should I just pay out of pocket money? Also, does anyone happen to know the average cost for a top quality crown? This is my front tooth we're talking about here and I want the very best.-
ANSWER:
Do you have a dental school in the area? Since it is your front tooth, they may have a teacher do the work. My brother did this when he was young and unemployed. At least they would consult with you and give you some qualified answers.

QUESTION:
How long do you have to wait to use your dental insurance once you sign up?
My teeth are hurting and I have no insurance as of now. I am not covered at work since i am considered part time. But how soon can I use my coverage? And is it like a cell phone contract where you gotta sign on for x number of years? thanks!-

Get on the eHealthPlus plan. It has no waiting periods
and no contracts.
Most every dental insurance has waiting periods.

QUESTION:
Individual health/dental insurance...?
I am 20 years old and on my step-father's insurance plan. However, he seems to change jobs every 6 months so I CONSTANTLY either a) have no current insurance, or b) am in a waiting period so I cannot receive services.I know nothing about insurance but would it be reasonable for me to get on an individual plan for myself? Although that's not what I would like to do ideally, I'm sick of not being able to go to the doctor or get yearly dental cleanings. I also need to go to an Orthodontist which I know often isn't covered by insurance, but I could deal with that when the time comes.
I'm a student and I don't have a job with benefits so what exactly would be the best option to look into?
-
ANSWER:
Call a local agent. The policies available depend on where you live. An experienced agent can narrow down your options to one that best fits your needs, and that you can afford in just a few minutes. Avoid the online shopping, there is just simply too much information, and too many scams to watch out for. Also, be open minded about an HSA type of policy. For more info about HSA's see link below.I am a strong advocate of individual policies VS group polices because they cost less and you own it, not your employer. With an individual policy you cannot be singled out for a rate increase, nor can you be canceled because of your claims experience.

QUESTION:
Dental schools in Fort Worth, Texas that will pull wisdom teeth for cheap?
I don't have very much money and no insurance. I have looked into buying some dental insurance but every one of them had a waiting period to get oral surgery done. I need them extracted as soon as possible. I can't sleep I have a constant headache, my jaw clicks. It would be ideal if a bill could be sent and I could make payments.-
ANSWER:
There are no accredited dental schools in Fort Worth. However, the Baylor University Dental School is in Dallas, so you might want to check them out. The number for patients is 214-848-8441, and their main number is 214-448-8100.But most dentists can make payment arrangements, so you might also want to look into that. Even those dentists that are not set up to take payments over time themselves will often set you up with CareCredit or a similar time-payment plan. Anyway, if Baylor doesn't work out, ask your dentist about payments.

QUESTION:
Dental Discount Plans v. Dental Insurance?
Does anyone have experience with either dental discount plans or dental insurance? An attractive point about the ddps is that they have no dollar amount limits nor is there a waiting period to use them. But there are hints online that in some areas it can be hard to find dentists who accept the plans, or even worse, that some of the companies may be scams or treat their sales employees poorly.Very thankful if anyone has any info to share. Particular company recommendations or warnings would also be appreciated.
Thanks!
-
ANSWER:
As you noted, this all depends on the area you live, but those online 'hints' you noticed seem to hold true for many of the plans people tell me about, however ddp's can also be a real bargain and provide a good service. You could ask to see a company's list of dentists and check out a few of the offices before hand.If you do sign up for the ddp, get suspicious if there is a lot of 'up-selling' of treatment that is not covered by the plan, and will wind up costing you as much as with ppo insurance, or more. Of course, up-selling can happen anywhere, but it seems to be more common with ddp's because the company's negotiated reimbursement from the insurance company for each procedure is lower.
Another issue with ddp's is that there is significant turnover of employee dentists and you may not get the same dentist every time, or the dentists you do get may be novices. This can be good or bad. I have a bias in thinking that a dentist who is able to follow a patient over time can provide superior continuity of care: that s/he has a better understanding of the patient's condition when observed over time, and that a dentist who can follow his/her own "work" over time has a better appreciation for what works or doesn't work in his/her own hands and for a specific patient. Also, a big portion of oral health involves preventive strategies, which are best communicated when there is an established relationship to build on between patient and health care provider.

QUESTION:
choosing a dental insurance plan?
I need to get my Wisdom tooth extracted which would cost about 300$ without insurance in Florida(where I reside). I have basic dental insurance, but that would cover only 30 out of the 300I am thinking of getting Prepaid Dental Plan C550 in Florida by Humana
http://www.humanaonedental.com/florida-dental-insurance/dental-plan-C550.aspx
which is about11$/month and a one time fee of 35$. They have no deductibles or waiting period, but require a lock in period of 1 year. But, the total expense still would be around 160$ for the year which is lot less than 270$(which I have to pay with my current insurance) and I get cleanings free(twice a year) with this plan.
Some details about them are at

1. Is the Prepaid Dental Plan C550 in Florida by Humana a proper choice or are there better options?
2. Would there be any caveats with this that I need to be aware of?
3. Any other factors I need to be aware of?

ANSWER:
I think you maybe left off a zero. I've never seen a wisdom tooth extraction priced at 0. I paid to have my son's out (yes, we have insurance, more on that later), and the total cost for all four teeth was about 00 (complex extraction).Your link didn't work, but when I took a look, at the very bottom there's a detailed coverage description. Oral surgeons take out wisdom teeth. Oral surgeons aren't covered, under your plan, except to give you a 25% discount off the "list" price for an in network oral surgeon. The fee schedule you're looking at, is only if your HMO dentist will do the extraction - and good luck on that.
You're NOT going to see that wisdom tooth out for 0. Additionally, even if you could find an in network dentist to do it, you'll notice that the anesthesia is seperate - and your payment for that, is per 15 minutes.
Lastly, the biggest caveat, is finding a dentist willing to take that insurance - so you probably want to do the "locate a dentist near you", take their number and call them, and ask THEM what they're going to charge. Ask them if they'll take out your wisdom tooth under the HMO plan. Then ask what the time frame is for an appointment. I had an HMO dental plan for one year, and it was a nightmare. When the contract said they had to see me within 60 days, my appointment would invariably be . . . 59 days out. For the consult. And another 59 for the procedure. IF they didn't cancel at the last minute.
I've never really seen a private dental insurance policy that pays out more than it costs.

The thing is, i want to fix my two front teeth as soon as possible because one of them is dark...for breaking my teeth when i was younger. Im 23 and just dont like the fact that my smile is not all white. I have been looking over insurance companies, and found SafeGuard dental and vision, their premier coverage is .99 a month. QUESTION:
Do I have to worry about the 63 days time limit for pre existing coditions for Dental plans
I recently left a job and my employeer warned me that I have 63 days to get an insurance policy otherwise pre-exisiting conditions clauses would kick in. So I diligently got my medical insurance. My question is how does Dental insurance work in this regard. Do most policies also have a 63 days no prexisting condition clause or do most have the usual "waiting period" regardless of the fact if you had insurance immediatly before, 63 days before or never before. I am trying to save some money and I had my teeth thoroughly checked right before I left my job, so I figure if it makes no difference why not wait at least 6 months until my next cleaning is due and THEN get dental insurance... But if it works the same way as Medical with the 63 days and pre exisitng condition issues and the health care crisis, maybe I should not risk it and get a policy ASAP. Any thoughts out there?-
ANSWER:
Yes you have to honour the time limit

QUESTION:
Can I get a filling, INSTEAD of a root canal for now? 5 STARS FOR BEST ANSWER!!!?
I chipped my top front tooth in the BACK of it while eating some ice about a year ago. Well, I didn't think much of it because the chip was in the back of the tooth where no one could see it, so I never went to the dentist about it. Well, recently, I was flossing and I noticed that that tooth kind of crumbled a bit. Not much, I mean you can't even tell. But when I looked at the back of that tooth in the mirror, I noticed there's now a black stain there. I'd say its on about 1/4 of that tooth, IF even that much, but it wasn't there before and I noticed the chip got bigger. It's still just in the back of the tooth and no one can see it, but I'm worried now.It doesn't hurt. Never did hurt. I can eat hots, colds, and sweets and never had any pain. I went to the dentist a couple weeks ago and this dentist, BEFORE taking x-rays, said I needed a root canal on that tooth. He said that I had a large cavity there that has reached the pulp. I've had 2 cavities before that reached the pulp when I was younger and they HURT, but this one doesn't.
I can't get a root canal right now cause I have a 12 month waiting period with my dental insurance for major procedures. So, can I just have it filled UNTIL I can afford and my insurance waiting period is over for the root canal? Do I need one? I'm not trying to get out of getting the work done....I just can't do it now and I'm worried about this getting worse and chipping more....Please help!

Dental Insurance Help?
I need to get dental inurance fast, need major work done...
What is a good one that dont cost that much and is a PPO and no waiting period???? Please help-
ANSWER:
ugh, these spammers are killing me.Look, this is your best value, you can shop around all you want. It's a new product called DentaCard. It's , was created solely to help people make dental visits more affordable and there is no waiting period, you get 20-50% off and you can combine it with financing in most situations (so you get the discount then you finance whatever you can't pay). All these other spammer's plans are 19.95 a month or 12.95 a month, or 99.95 per year (and that's for 1 person!), DentaCard is with no fees and it'll last you 12 months. Also, those other "so-called plans" have hardly any dentists because they are crap, sorry to say, no good dentists want to participate in a plan if they are giving away free cleanings or what not...our plan has legit doctors because the plan isn't crap and the good dentists participate with us.
DentaCard has contracted with 81,000 dental access points, you can use your card at any of those dentists! check it out and let me know if you have any questions http://www.dentacard.com

ANSWER:
I've never actually seen a private dental insurance policy that pays out more than it costs - they have deductibles, coverage limits, and waiting periods, because pretty much only the people who buy it, want to file claims. You can buy a "plan" that isn't insurance, and won't actually PAY anything, and kind of promises you a discount - but you can also negotiate that discount yourself, with your dentist.
Your BEST bet for cheap dental work, is finding a local dental school

QUESTION:
How does dental insurance work?
I am interested in getting my own dental insurance through Delta. Im covered under both my parents. However neither one of theres covers ortho after the age of 18. Im 19 and a full time student. Delta has a individual PPO plan in Cal. It has a prepaid annual premium of 0. There are also NO waiting periods. My question is if I pay the annual premium, what else would I have to pay to receive the ortho
coverage? It just seems too good to be true, that I only have to pay a 0 a year and Delta would pay over a thousand dollars towards my braces. Is this true? Please help! Please dont tell me to call. I have and I guess Im just not easily trusting. I dont want to pay the hundred bucks and then have them try to get out of helping me. Then Ill be stuck with THREE standard dental plans.

QUESTION:
What kind of dental insurance plan should I get and where do I sign up?
I had a root canal approximately 3 years ago. The filling in my tooth was completed, but my insurance termed and I never got the cap/crown (or whatever it is they cover it with!) I don't have insurance through my employer and obviously I need something done ASAP (no 12 month waiting periods!!!) Any suggestions on what I should do for insurance?? A lot of the plans I've seen seem very fishy and I pay more for the insurance than what they would even cover in the first year. I'm confused

QUESTION:
Desperately Need To See A Dentist But Have No Insurance (Chicago Area)?
I desperately need to see a dentist, but I have no insurance. My molars ache like crazy, but that's the least of my worried. I have (what I believe) is an infected tooth (the gums above it in front and back are swollen and red and it hurts but I have no fever). Also, I believe I have gingivitis (possibly even peridontitis). I'm panicking because I know the seriousness of both conditions. I just don't know what to do.The dental insurance plans available only offer coverage after a very long waiting period (average is 12 months) and I just don't know what to do. I do work, but it's only 30 hours/week so my job doesn't extend insurance for me.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I live in the south suburbs of Chicago if anyone can recommend a place locally that can help...I just don't know where to start. Even if it's general advice, please help!
And please don't be mean...I'm already scared enough.

Theres no annual max on the first..-
ANSWER:
hard to say with what you tell us about them......plus they are very very tricky, what is you annual max benifit for the first???
you dont say so i cant tell...it could be really low...and that would suck
the 2nd one say it will only pay 750 tops. and you pay 60% of the bill what ever it is before they pay anything... but that could be better than the first one....because you dont tell me really anything about the first one other than the monthly payments.
saving percents and discount persents are pretty meaningless because each persons situation is different and the laws of the earth mandate that if you have a problem, it wont be one that is like everyone elses and it wont be a discounted one.
read and reread the fine print, they will try to mislead and trick and decieve and use all manner of subterfuge to get you to sign up. remember their only goal is to make you pay as much as possible while dividing it into as complicated and convaluted way possible so that it makes you confused And deny every single thing they possibly can so you stay poor and sick and they get richer and richer! read and re-read and read again!

QUESTION:
Anyone used dental discount cards/plans, are they a rip off?
DentalPlans.com seems to have some decent plans... but I think they are the discount cards. Around 0 a year for family plans that seem to cover about the same percentages as my dental helth insurance. Example..
Insurance: 50$ a month. 80% copay after 6mo waiting period on most everything minor & 50%copay on major w/ an 18mo waiting period.
Card: Pretty decent savings a filling is only 50$ (regular 120) & no waiting..
WWYD?-
ANSWER:
They are a dental discount card. Here is how it works. You as the patient will usually get a GREAT deal on having your teeth cleaned. The exam and X rays are how the office makes back the money they lost of the cleaning. The patient does get the advantage of knowing exactly how much each procedure will cost them. The dental offices sign up beause they get free advertisment, they get patients who most likely have bad teeth otherwise they wouldn't sign up for the program.Suggestion. If you have good/great teeth skip the plan all together and set aside money in a Health Savings account for down the road. Find out which offices are on the discount plan, and ask them if they would honor the rates posted from the discounter, 9/10 they will say sure even theough you don't belong because you asked for the discount.

Cobra Dental retroactive due from the Date? (not worried about the money aspect of it)?
I am going to get it this time since it will be cheaper, my question is will it still remain that I had coverage for three years (prior to being laid off and couldnt afford it since November)? I need a crown and if it goes back to waiting period of a year to get discounts on the crown then there is really no reason to get dental again, because Obama is only allowing it for 9 months, right?? Someone please help. I had insurance with my company three years prior... Anyone know the answer?-
ANSWER:
Your employer should be sending you a letter about the new stimulus rules for Cobra. The Cobra will be retroactive to the date you left, but you'll have to pay those premiums. However, this means the waiting period for the crown will be not be reset, you will be OK.good luck

QUESTION:
Can you answer this insurance question?
I have dental coverage but no adult orthodontic coverage. I need braces and am hoping that my husband's employer will add this for us.
Has anyone ever done this? If so, did you have to pay anything for the additional coverage? Was there a waiting period? Any other info is appreciated. Thanks!
I am covered under my husband's insurance. I want to add ortho coverage.-
ANSWER:
The employer can't add it just for you, he's got to pay for it for EVERYONE.Also, even WITH orthodontic coverage, typically, the COVERAGE is, 50%, up to 00 or ,000. For my family, that left us with ,000 out of pocket to pay - and the orthodontist wanted the 50% part - from us - up front.
So no, there's usually NOT a waiting period with group insurance. But you're NOT going to get "free" braces out of it, either.
